The Digital printing process is an essential part of design and fabrication today. At the same time, it can blur the boundaries and distinctiveness between specialisms in many ways that allow for multiple interdisciplinary outputs. Surface Imaging refers to creating imagery in various physical forms using a variety of digital printing technologies, including direct surface imaging on porous and non-porous substrates and fabrication printing through material deposition and subtraction printing technologies. This presentation disseminates the concepts, rationale and opportunities for a new trans-disciplinary field of Surface Imaging .
